Devoted to Brazilian music since the beginning of the 90's, Nadia Cancila starts to sing since very young at first pop music, then jazz, afterwards choosing bossa nova and MPB as her personal styles.

She studied MPB repertoire, guitar and percussions and graduated in Portuguese. She started to play in trios and quartets as leader vocalist .

She played - among others - with: Mike Moreno, Alfredo Paixão,  John Stowell, Nelson Faria, Hans Vroomans, Cliff Korman, Toninho Horta, Batuque Percussion, Conjunto Bossagora, Giovanni Ceccarelli, Robertinho De Paula.

After some minor discographic productions (“Vida”- Conjunto Bossagora; “French Brazilian Quartet” - with Giovanni Ceccarelli, Fabrizio Cecca and Massimiliano De Lucia; “Atras da Porta” – with Robertinho de Paula), in 2012 she launched her album “E’ tarde” played by some of the most respected artists of Jazz and Brazilian music. The artistic production is cared by the world-wide known Brazilian composer, arranger and bassist Alfredo Paixão, who also wrote three tracks of the CD. The band is: the Brazilian guitar player Nelson Faria (João Bosco, Leila Pinheiro, ecc..), Hans Vroomans, pianist of the Metropole Orchestra, the Brazilian drummer Fabio Charvet and another drummer from Mexico, Israel Varela, as special guest.

Singing in a flawless Portuguese, Nadia’s voice fits perfectly with the sound of the group, travelling back in the 80’s MPB, from Caetano Veloso to Joyce, Ivan Lins, Chico Buarque and Djavan.

In the recently released new album, “Cheiro de Jardim”, the artist dives into jazz while singing in Portuguese.

The compositions, all original, are written by Alfredo Paixão, who is also the music producer and the arranger.

The recording is poetic, full of magical moments made extraordinary by the mastery of a quartet formed by Mike Moreno, one of the best jazz guitarists in the world, the talented piano player Ettore Carucci, Alfredo Paixão, among the best bass players in the world, Grammy-winner and one of the most eclectic and sensitive composers and Enrico Morello, one of the most respected young Italian drummers. Thanks to them and to the music and the  lyrics of Alfredo Paixão, the singer finds a fertile ground to express her feelings, through a  personal and delicate interpretation.

"Cheiro de Jardim" has been considered as the Best CD of the year 2013  by the UK Radio show "Voltarol's in the Din Trade"-

One of Nadia's songs "Apague essa luz" has been included in the double compilation of the High Note "Brazilian Lounge" with all the vocal masters of the Brazilian Music.

In May 2014 she recorded another CD, "Dois" this time in duo with Alfredo Paixão who comes back to his first beloved instrument, the guitar. Here again Alfredo wrote all the songs.
